On the 19th-20th June, for the second year running, we took part in 24H Helags Adventure. This is a race where the organiser Erik Pütsep manages to make a true «adventure race» out of a 24 hour competition, partly by chosing fantastic mountain terrain and partly by convincing the weather gods to forget that it is mid-summer.
Last year we had a snow storm – this year, no snow but nevertheless temperatures around zero, stronger winds than ever and very poor visibility in the mountains.

Others have described the race in sufficient detail and breadth, e.g.
- The winning teams in both the mens and mixed classes: Team Haglöfs Silva
- Outside blogger, Jari Palonen
We were simply pleased to have withstood the elements and completed the competition without giving up, either out on the epic padling stage or on the long, windy mountain trek in poor visibility. We can’t remember ever doing so badly on our navigation before, with half an hour lost on an early cycling stage and about 2.5 hours lost in the mountains. It would be easy to blame the weather, but others managed better and it was a useful reminder that it is stupid to be careless with the compass when visibility is approaching zero. Thanks to Erik and his team for another true adventure!
